Dear esteemed guests and visitors,
On behalf of the Yemeni Government and my colleagues in the Republic of Yemen Mission in The Hague, I would like to extend our warmest welcome to you on this virtual space of the Yemen land. Yemen with its great and rich history, its present opportunities and future prosperity.
I have been fortunate and privileged to be chosen by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Yemen, Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi to represent Yemen and to serve its people at this critical stage in its contemporary history in one of the most important friendly European capitals. I have gratefully accepted this mandate, and I am proud and at the same time aware of all difficulties and challenges beset by this position. However, I am determined that my presence in this important capital will be a voice for the people and government of Yemen. I call upon the people and the government of the Kingdom of Netherlands to stand in solidarity with the Yemeni people in their efforts to lay the foundation for a new Yemen, where equal citizenship and the equitable distribution of wealth and power is realized, and the commitment to and the principles of good governance and social justice prevail.
I am confident that the historical relations between Yemen and the Netherlands, which have gone down in history exactly since the seventeenth century and onward, have through continued and close cooperation resulted in many agreements and projects in areas of socio-political, economic and cultural development, will help us to build greater humanitarian, political and economic cooperation in the present and future of our two friendly countries. Yemen particularly at this pivotal juncture is passing through one of the most important stages of its modern history, striving to establish a state of citizenship, justice and democracy.
Being cognizant of the great diplomatic and political dimensions of Yemen mission in The Hague, we are also not oblivious to the repercussions of the war in our beloved Yemen, which have resulted in the increasing number of the Yemeni community in the Netherlands, Sweden and Norway. We are constantly improving the quality of our Consular Services through the allocation of a full day (each Friday) to meet and engage with Yemeni citizens or participate in direct meetings with the community and its representatives in events and celebrations, or by conducting periodic visits to Sweden and Norway to get acquainted with the Yemeni community, women and men, young and old.
